My family and I initially opened an antique and "everything under the sun" store in our hometown. Over the years, we built strong connections with professionals who organized upscale estate sales, taking advantage of my mother's exceptional talent in staging these events. My father, naturally gifted in business and communication, perfectly complemented her skills. Eventually, this teamwork led us to manage full estate cleanouts, where we handled the disposal of unwanted items and sold valuable goods for profit.
We began modestly, selling various items directly from my grandmother's driveway after buying our first box truck. After several successful years, we expanded into a storefront, significantly boosting our business and presence in the community. I've essentially been part of this business since childhood.
Later in life, my father developed a deep passion for vintage lunchboxes. Our first purchase,a heavily used Peanuts lunchbox, was overpriced but sparked a lasting interest. My father invested considerable time and effort into researching and forming connections with top lunchbox collectors across the U.S. and Canada through platforms like eBay, word-of-mouth referrals, and collector guides such as "The Lunchbox Kid." His dedication resulted in an impressive personal collection and made him instrumental in building some of the finest collections in North America.
Today, I proudly own two exceptionally rare lunchboxes. One is a "Toppie" lunchbox kit, one of only 20 known to exist, remarkable for its pristine condition. The other is an extremely rare "Man from Atlantis" prototype lunchbox, created just before metal lunchboxes were banned in schools. Of only three known prototypes, this one is notably in the best condition,a true highlight in any collector's showcase.
